What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy takes a holistic, whole-body approach to healthcare. It uses manual 'hands-on' techniques to improve circulation and correct altered biomechanics, without the use of drugs.

Osteopathic treatment  gently and safely eases the positioning of muscles and bones back into their proper alignment. Your body is then able to move more efficiently and effectively due to reduced muscular tension, which also reduces the chance of motion related pain and injury.  Correcting the body's structural alignment improves its functioning allowing the body to self heal and self correct naturally.

There are many health benefits that can be achieved through osteopathic treatments; muscle and joint pain relief, quicker healing after illness or injury and improved quality of sleep and sense of  well being.

During treatment, I look, listen and feel to piece together your unique health history. I put the information together like a puzzle, to address the underlying cause of the problem instead of just chasing the symptoms.

A key feature to maintaining your health and wellness is having good mobility.  Osteopathic treatments help to improve and maintain your joints and muscles healthy range of motion to help you to stay active, healthy and happy!

A little bit about me...

Hi, my name is Adrianne. I first discovered the healing power of osteopathy while searching for a pain relief solution for my daughter Ava. The osteopathic treatment was gentle and non invasive and had amazing results! I was so impressed that I decided to attend the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy to study osteopathy myself.

I believe that our body works as a unit and every part is interconnected. Proper body alignment improves all aspects of our health by allowing the body to self heal.

We can take care of our health in many ways : by staying physically active, reducing stress, good sleep habits, eating healthy foods and drinking lots of water.

I am a life long resident of Smithville.  Growing up, I enjoyed being outside and playing on many different sports teams. My adventures and activities resulted in numerous injuries throughout the years, including concussions and migraine headaches. Osteopathic care has helped me continue doing the things I enjoy.

In my free time, I love to be outdoors as much as possible! I enjoy gardening, hiking, reading, puzzles and spending time with my family and our Aussie, Jax.

Why Osteopathy

Why Choose Osteopathy?

It can help with ...

Digestion

May be improved by reducing muscular tension in the body and increasing activity of the parasympathetic nervous system.  Rest and digest.

Fatigue and Sleep

Calming the sympathetic nervous system with gentle rhythmic movements helps to encourage a resting and rebuilding state for the body.

Injuries

Osteopathy can help speed the healing process. Ensuring proper alignment of the body will allow the blood to travel freely to and from where your body needs it most.

Improved Constitution and Vitality

An increased feeling of health and well being  as well as an increase in energy. Osteopathic manual treatments contribute a deposit into your "health" bank account.

Your improved quality of life will allow you to stay active and fully enjoy your daily activities.

Pain Management

Motion is important in life. Decreasing chronic pain and improving range of motion in our joints allows for better movement and health. Good circulation is important for reducing swelling and maintaining healthy tissues throughout the body.

Stress

Happens in all of our lives. An overactive sympathetic nervous system causes a fight, flight or freeze reaction. Cortisol is a natural hormone in the body but a surplus from stress can affect functioning of the immune system.

Testimonials

I was told that I needed glasses to help correct some muscular issues with my eyes. After a few osteopathic treatments, I felt great and my eyes self corrected. I didn't need glasses anymore!
